Changing the Retail

The Talent Incubator of the University of Granada, in collaboration with the company Leroy Merlin, offers a completely free program for skills training and career development, aimed at individuals with the potential to become future managers of Leroy Merlin’s retail stores.

Those who complete the  L STORE GENERATION program will have the opportunity to access one of the 10 permanent job contracts reserved for this program, with a start date in September 2025, and associated with a personalized career development plan.

Program Objective

To connect university students with potential to interesting and suitable career paths, offering them high-level training in management skills and an opportunity to begin a professional career with a permanent job contract, aimed at high-level positions in the company’s retail stores.

Where the Career Plan is Developed

The offered contracts are designed to develop a career plan in team management at the different Leroy Merlin locations in Andalusia. If you are interested in participating, you must be willing to relocate.

Who can Participate

Individuals in their final year of undergraduate or master’s studies, with a background in business administration, marketing, human resources, architecture, construction, electronics, tourism, psychology, or related fields.

Each Leroy Merlin store typically employs over a hundred people and faces challenges in organization, design, communication, sales, and planning, requiring highly qualified individuals capable of managing all these processes. The most important thing is that you have an interest in a professional career in the sector and enjoy interacting with people and working to organize how to provide solutions to customers.

Highly qualified individuals with strong academic and technical skills, as well as strong commercial abilities and team management skills, are needed to collaborate with all company development processes.

Activities and Schedule

The number of spots in the program is limited. Interested individuals must pre-register and be admitted. For this, they will receive an email or a call from the Talent Incubator.

PART 1. PRE-REGISTRATION: from March 1 to April 7, 2025

PART 2. INTRODUCTORY EVENT: April 29 (afternoon session)

The individuals selected from the pre-registered applicants will be able to participate in a dynamic activity where they will learn how the multinational company Leroy Merlin operates, what profiles they are looking for to become their future managers, and take part in a real selection process with various dynamics. The event is designed to be a highly interesting learning experience. All participants will receive a completely free attendance certificate. The dynamics will help determine who progresses to the next steps.

PART 3. INTENSIVE PROGRAM IN MANAGEMENT SKILLS: May 16 (4:00 PM - 9:00 PM) and May 17 (10:00 AM - 8:00 PM)

Individuals with potential and interest will be invited to participate in an intensive in-person program for qualifying high-level management and professional skills. You will learn in a fully practical way to improve skills considered “core” for your professional career, such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and decision-making, among others. THE PROGRAM IS MANDATORY to progress to the next phases. The training is completely free, will take place in exclusive facilities, and will include meals. The training methodology is based on experience coaching. You will love it.

PART 4. MENTORING AND RECRUITMENT: June-July

All participants in the skills program will be invited to meetings with professionals and executives from the company, who will offer their insights and recommendations, and company facility visits will be organized. All interested individuals will have the opportunity to sign their permanent employment contract during this period and join the company immediately after the summer holidays.

PART 5. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY: September 2025

Start of the professional experience phase with a permanent employment contract and a personalized career plan. Participants will join positions with managerial potential at Leroy Merlin centers in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Murcia, and Alicante.

Opportunity to participate in a professional selection experience with real methodologies in a dynamic and engaging format. Certification of participation for all selected individuals.

High-Performance Training in Management Skills

Intensive training in “soft skills” and management skills, where you will learn in a completely practical way through experiential seminars to improve skills considered “core” for your professional career.

Individual and Group Coaching and Mentoring

Participation in mentoring sessions with executives and professionals from the company, where you will receive guidance and useful advice for your professional career. Additionally, group coaching sessions will be included in the training program, offering you learning opportunities typically reserved for top management.

Professional Immersion

Visit to Leroy Merlin’s headquarters for students to firsthand experience the company’s facilities, get a live sense of the work environment, and meet part of the team at the company’s Granada office.

Socialization Time

Planned times for participants to get to know each other better, exchange opinions, and build relationships. Additionally, the program offers some meals, breakfasts, and coffees free of charge, providing a support network for a successful professional integration.

Permanent Contract and Career Plan

A professional career plan that starts with a permanent contract to join Leroy Merlin. The integration will take place in Leroy Merlin stores within the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

Program Cost

The program is COMPLETELY FREE for the students who are ultimately selected to participate. The cost of the program is 2,600 euros per person, fully sponsored by the company Leroy Merlin in collaboration with the University of Granada. Additionally, selected participants will receive their corresponding compensation as soon as they begin their professional experience.
